Evanston Police say they’ve received reports of seven robberies of pedestrians in south and central Evanston in the past two days.

Cmdr. Ryan Glew says it’s believed all the robberies have been committed by the same three or four Black male youths between 13 and 17 years of age who reportedly have been driving a stolen blue Honda CRV with Illinois plates.

Glew says the robberies have occurred between noon and 2 p.m. and that the robbers have targeted victims walking with their cellular phone visible and women carrying purses. Two similar robberies have been reported in the Rogers Park area of Chicago.

He says the robbers have not displayed or implied a weapon, but have battered several victims during the commission of the robberies.

Evanston Detectives are investigating all seven incidents. Police ask that anyone with information regarding these robberies contact investigators at 847-866-5040 or Text-A-Tip to CRIMES (274637) and then start your message with EPDTIP.
