Evanston police have started posting pictures of suspects and persons of interest in criminal cases on a website that asks the public to help ID them.
Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott says the effort is focused largely on cases involving identity theft, credit card fraud and retail theft.
The website, IDThisPerson.com, offers a $25 reward to those helping to identify suspects.
Most of the nearly 70 photos posted by Evanston police so far lack identifying details about where or when the incident took place, which may make it harder for viewers to come up with an ID.
People sending in tips from the site can do so anonymously, but have to provide their email address to qualify for the reward.
