Evanston police stopped a car in the 2400 block of Greenwood Avenue just before midnight Monday night and say they found the driver had a loaded gun tucked under the front seat.
Cmdr. Jay Parrott says the driver, Brian M. Boynton, 22, of 1340 Fowler Ave., now faces a felony charge of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after officers from the Special Operations Group working in plain clothes stopped the car and recovered a .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol from under the seat.
Boynton is scheduled to appear in Skokie district court at 9 a.m. on Oct. 17.
Great job
Great job EPD getting felons and their illegal tools off the street!
Great work EPD!
One gun off the street and it didn't take a gun buy back program!
Great Job EPD!
I live in this neighborhood and I thank the EPD for their hard work and effort in cleaning up the area. It brings us one step closer to bringing tranquility back to our neighborhood. Thank you!
Guns near schools
That is approx. 2 blocks from King Lab and 4 from ETHS. I am not sure what the penalty is for carrying arms near schools or what is considered a school zone when we think of "protected areas" in that respect. Someone has told me 1000 ft (which in my opinion is nothing) . Drug operations done near schools carry a heavier penalty than those at certain distance from schools. Can we work towards a similar approach towards illegal guns?
Police officers stop car, find gun inside
We all know police work is difficult and dangerous. Sometimes people are not aware of what you do daily.
Thank you for getting this gun off the street!
I honestly do not understand why these yong people are packing weapons? Untrained ignorant fools!
Thank you EPD
Thank you EPD for getting this gun off the streets of Evanston. Unfortunately I wonder how long it will be until its owner is released back to the streets where he'll just get another gun and potentially use it.
