Evanston police say a long-running drug investigation led to the arrest of an Evanston woman Wednesday night in Skokie.

Commander Tom Guenther says officers in the department’s Neighborhood Enforcement Team followed a car driven by Timesa Barnes, 25, of 1627 Monroe St., from a garage behind her apartment and stopped it for a traffic violation in the 3600 block of Main Street in Skokie about 9 p.m.

Officers say that Inside the car they found about nine pounds of marijuana wrapped in a garbage bag, and they say they found another half pound of pot back at the garage.

Barnes now faces felony charges of possession of cannabis with intent to deliver. She’s scheduled to appear Tuesday in Skokie District Court.
