The Chicago Transit Authority plans to begin some noisy overnight night work tonight at the Grove Street viaduct in Evanston.

The work will involve vibrating foundation piles into place in preparation for installation of the new bridge next spring.

Because the piles are located close to the tracks, it can only be done during the 1:30 to 4:30 a.m. hours when the trains are not running.

This work is planned to take place over the next three nights.

Grove Street is closed now between the CTA and Metra viaducts and is scheduled to remain closed through Oct. 23. A traffic detour map is available online as is more information about the project.
