Chicago Transit Authority rail service has been disrupted  on the Red, Yellow and Purple lines this morning. CTA officials say it’s because an unauthorized person is on the tracks near Howard Street.

Evanston fire crews responded to a stalled Yellow Line train stopped between Custer and Ridge Avenues, but they’ve now left the scene.

The CTA is suggesting that Yellow Line riders take the Route 97 bus instead. Purple Line riders are being advised to consider bus route alternatives or the Brown Line.

Red Line service is still running south of Wilson.

Update 9:37 a.m.: Fire officials say trains are now running again on the Yellow Line. The incident was first reported by the CTA at 9:04 a.m.

Update 11:15 a.m.: CTA officials say traffic has been restored on all three lines but that trains are operating with delays at Howard due to congestion.
