CTA service on the Red and Purple lines is disrupted at this hour between Howard and Belmont.

CTA officials say the problems are the result of an earlier power failure near the Howard station.

There also are switching problems and general congestion on the system during the evening rush.

In addition, Yellow Line service has been temporarily suspended because of a loss of power. The CTA is suggesting Yellow Line riders use the Route 97 bus instead.
