Riders heading to and from Wilmette on the CTA Purple Line may experience some delays this weekend as the transit agency makes repairs to the tracks at the Isabella Street crossing on the Evanston-Wilmette border.

The track work, designed to eliminate slow zones, is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The work will have no impact on auto traffic, Evanston city officials say, because work on the nearby Isabella Street bridge over the North Shore Channel, has already closed the road to traffic.

Single-track service on the Purple Line at the crossing is expected to be maintained during construction.

The CTA says residents in the area will hear noise from construction equipment and from air horns used by flaggers to warn workers of approaching trains.
