The CTA says preparatory work for replacing the main stairway at Evanston’s Central Street station on the Purple Line will cause some travel disruptions Monday and Tuesday.

The schedule disruptions are expected to be in effect from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day — so rush hour travelers should not be affected.

On Monday trains northbound to Linden won’t stop at Central Street.

So for Monday, riders seeking to get to Linden from Central will need to board a southbound train at Central and then switch to a northbound train at Noyes.

And riders riders from the south with Central as their destination will have to go all the way to the end of the line at Linden and board a southbound train to get back to Central.

On Tuesday trains southbound to Howard won’t stop at Central Street.

So for Tuesday riders heading to Howard from Central will have to ride north to Linden and transfer to a Howard-bound train.

And southbound riders from Linden heading to Central will have to ride on to Noyes and transfer there to a northbound train to get to Central Street.

And, as the CTA always says with service disruptions, “allow extra time.”
