After six years on the Evanston Township High School board, Mark Metz says he hopes to serve one more term to help with unfinished business in improving the school’s performance.

In a video interview with Evanston Now, Metz said he wants to see every student who enters ETHS successfully graduate from the school. Now about 10 percent of entering freshman fail to graduate within five years.

A 35-year resident of Evanston, Metz, of 2125 Sherman Ave., is a former member and chair of the Evanston Parks and Recreation Board and chaired the mayor’s task force on public safety pensions.

He’s retired from a 30-year career in retirement plan services with Transamerica and other firms.

He and his wife Noreen have three children who are graduates of District 65 and ETHS. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. He also volunteered for 16 years as a baseball coach with the Evanston Baseball and Softball Association.
