The Evanston School District 65 school board is accepting applications to fill a vacancy in the board due to the resignation of Lindsay Cohen.

In submitting her resignation, effective July 18, Cohen cited a family move outside of District 65 boundaries. Her board service began in 2017.

“On behalf of the school board, I would like to thank Lindsay for her service as a board member in District 65,” said Sunith Kartha, Board President. “The board benefited from her perspective, and we wish her and her family all the best in the future.”

To fill the vacancy, the Board of Education will seek applicants from across the District 65 community.

To be eligible for appointement as a school board member, a person must be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age, a registered voter and a resident of the State of Illinois and Evanston/Skokie School District 65 for at least one year.

Information on how to apply is available online and at the Joseph E. Hill Education Center at 1500 McDaniel Ave. Application documents must be submitted by 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2.

The applicant selected will be announced no later than Sept. 1.

The term of the appointed board member will run until the April 2021 election.
