The Evanston/Skokie District 65 School Board now plans to interview and select a consulting firm for its search for a new superintendent by the end of October.

D65 Board President Tracy Quattrocki said she had hoped to have a request for proposals ready for Monday night’s board meeting. But she said the draft RFP, after being reviewed by lawyers, needed additional language added.

She said the final RFP will be posted to the district’s website on Friday.

The board agreed to give interested firms until Oct. 14 to respond to the RFP.

Quattrocki said responses will be reviewed by the board the week of Oct. 21, and a special public meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Oct. 28 to interview the finalists and then select a final candidate.

Finalists will be given a maximum of 15 minutes for each presentation, with an additional 15 minutes allotted to take questions from the board.

Once a search firm is selected, Quattrocki said “they will sit down with us and walk us through the timeline at that point going forward.”

The goal, however, is to have a superintendent in place by July 1 of next year, she said.

Former D65 Superintendent Hardy Murphy announced his resignation in August.

Following his departure, the district’s business manager, Mary Brown, was appointed interim superintendent by the board. In addition to Brown’s appointment, Barbara S. Hiller, a former D65 employee, was named chief administrator for the school year.
