The Evanston/Skokie School District 65 is expected to approve and seat a new board member tonight to replace Jennifer Phillips, who resigned recently because she was moving from the district.

According to district spokesperson Melissa Messinger, some 12 persons applied for the position.

Even though Phillips’ term would not have expired for another two years, her successor must face the electorate in April during school board elections in order to continue serving out Phillips’ four-year term that ends in 2019.
