Evanston School District 65 is looking for qualified substitute teachers to fill daily and long-term classroom teacher and paraprofessional absences. A Substitute Teacher Job Fair will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the JEH Education Center, 1500 McDaniel Ave., from 8 a.m. to noon.
All candidates must have a current Illinois State Professional Educator or Substitute License. In addition to licensure requirements, the district is looking for candidates with prior classroom/substitute teaching experience or equivalent experience who are committed to teaching and supporting all students.
Upon placement, substitute teachers earn $115 per day. Subs that are assigned to cover a long-term absence earn $200 per day (beginning the 23rd day of the assignment).*

Substitute License Requirements (per Illinois State Board of Education):
- Must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education to be eligible for a substitute license. OR
- Must hold an associate’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education or show completion of 60 semester hours of coursework to be eligible for a non-renewable short-term substitute license.
- Either license is valid for substitute teaching in all grades of public schools (prekindergarten through grade 12). Substitute licenses are valid for five years, and may be renewed with the payment of registration fees.
*Please note that those who hold a short-term sub license are not eligible to teach more than five consecutive days per licensed teacher.
