Actor Danny Glover is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at a town hall meeting Wednesday, Dec. 11, promoting the reparations initiatlive in Evanston.

The meeting will conclude a two day visit to Evanston by members of the National African American Reparations Commission.

It’s being hosted by by First Church of God Pastor Monte Dillard, a member of Evanston’s Equity and Empowerment Commission, and will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the church, 1524 Simpson St.

Aderman Robin Rue Simmons, 5th Ward, asked NAARC to come to Evanston to provide support for the $10 million reparations fund the City Council approved last month to be funded through tax revenue from the sale of recreational marijuana.

Panelists at the session will also include Iva Carruthers, general secretary of The Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference; Kamm Howard, of the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in AmericaNkechi Taifa, an attorney and human rights advocate, and Judge Lionel Jean Baptiste of Evanston.
