Two parents of students at Dawes Elementary School were named recipients of the Phyllis Ganser PTA Volunteer Award at Monday night’s meeting of the Evanston/Skokie District 65 School Board.
The winners—Kristin James and Elliot Frolichstein-Appel—each have three children, with their youngest currently at Dawes, where they have served on the PTA for many years.
The award is presented each year since Ganser’s death from cancer in 2000 by the Evanston/Skokie PTA Council to give special recognition to dedicated volunteers in the district school system.
Each of the District 65 PTA’s is invited to nominate candidates for the award, and a committee co-chaired by Ganser’s sister, Sue Ganser Levinson, selects the winners.
