Members of the Democratic Party of Evanston will gather to vote on candidate endorsements for the March primary on Sunday, Jan. 22, at Beth Emet Synagogue in Evanston.

The meeting runs from 2 to 4 p.m. at the synagogue at 1224 Dempster St. and will feature presentations by many of the candidates up for endorsement.

Although there’s no primary competition for several prominent races — including state senator and two of the three state house seats that cover Evanston — several other races do have competition.

Party members in good standing as of Jan. 17 are eligible to  vote and non-members are welcome to attend and observe.

Voting takes place continuously through the meeting. Endorsement requires a favorable vote by two-thirds of the party members voting.

Races up for endorsement and the candidates for those offices include:

Cook County Board of Review
Michael Cabonargi
Nicholas ‘Niko’ Margarites

Metropolitan Water Reclamation District
George Blakemore
Stella Black
Patricia Horton
Debra Shore
Kari Steele
Patrick Daley Thompson
