Design Evanston presents awards to eighteen different projects ranging from churches to bars at a ceremony Thursday evening.

The awards recognize architectural, urban, landscape, graphic and merchandising design achievements.

The awards ceremony will be held at one of the winning locations – the Music Institute of Chicago, honored for its restoration of the former Christian Science church building it occupies at 1490 Chicago Ave.

Other winners include the First United Methodist Church and St. Mary’s Church, Nevins Pub and The Nail Bar, the city’s Fire Station No. 3, the Optima Horizons and 817 Hinman condominium developments and two private homes.
