Evanston’s restaurant scene continues to evolve.

Donatella Mediterranean Bistro, scheduled to open this month at 1512 Sherman Ave., will be asking for a sidewalk cafe license at tonight’s City Council meeting.

Back for a renewal of its sidewalk cafe license is Las Palmas at 817 University Place, which faced complaints from neighbors last year, but convinced the city’s site plan committee to recommend renewal of the license anyway.

The council is also scheduled to vote on a special use permit to open Wings Over Chicago, a planned carry-out restaurant at 1115 Emerson St.

And aldermen are scheduled to vote on issuing a Class C liquor license for Little Wok at 2426 Main St., but they’ll also be decreasing the number of liquor licenses in town by two as a result of the recent closings of the 1800 Club, 1800 Sherman Ave., and Va Pensiero, 1566 Oak Ave.

Separately, we’ve noticed that the coffee shop Cafe Enigma, 1620 Orrington Ave., closed last week and that construction is underway to reopen the Phoenix Inn at 608 Davis St. which was damaged in a fire nearly 20 months ago.
