Evanston police are investigating an unprovoked attack on Howard Street that has left an unidentified disabled man hospitalized with severe injuries.

Alderman Ann Rainey, 8th Ward, says police describe the victim as a white or Hispanic male about 40 years of age, 5-foot-5-inches tall and weighing 130 pounds.

He wore hearing aids in both ears and walked with a cane.

Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott declined to release information about the incident this morning.

But it’s believed two men jumped the victim about 5 a.m. Friday as he walked eastbound near the Marathon Gas Station at 555 Howard St.

Rainey says anyone who might be able to assist in identifying the victim is being asked to call the police at 847-866-5000.
