Evanston police say a man picked up last week for threatening another person now has been charged with a beauty shop burglary last month.

Cmdr. Jay Parrott says police were called about 12:40 p.m. Thursday to the area of 1100 Sheridan Road by someone who said he saw two men arguing.

Officers say they found 43-year-old Andre D. Shearer, of 252 Custer Ave., who was allegedly harassing another 43-year-old man — demanding money from him and threating him with bodily harm if he didn’t turn it over.

Shearer was charged with assault and disorderly conduct for that incident.

And, while he was in police custody, detectives determined that he matched the description of a burglarr captured on video removing a television, video player and hair extensions from a beauty shop in the 700 block of Howard Street on Feb. 17.

Parrott says detectives were able to get an admission from Shearer and charged him with the burglary.

Shearer was also found to be on parole for burglary with the Illinois Department of Corrrections.

He’s scheduled to appear in Skokie district court at 1:30 p.m. April 1 on charges stemming from the disturbance and at 9 a.m. April 16 on the burglary charge.
