2000 Foster
A 2008 Dodge was damaged by gunfire around 8:15 p.m. Friday in the 2000 block of Foster Street, while occupied by two individuals, at about the same time that gunshots were reported nearby. The vehicle’s occupants were not hit, but the perpetrators fled the scene.
2200 Oakton
Spray paint was discovered on a 2018 Kia in a business parking lot in the 2200 block of Oakton Street at 4:50 p.m. yesterday.
Battery
2400 Howard
The driver of a 2015 Nissan sustained a gunshot wound to the leg at about 7:33 p.m. Saturday in the 2400 block of Howard Street. Police subsequently determined that the incident did not happen on the Evanston side of the street.
Burglary
1100 Dewey
Cash, office equipment, and photo identification were among items stolen from a 2018 Nissan in the 1100 block of Dewey Avenue between 10 p.m. Friday and 6:15 a.m. Saturday.
Graffiti
1300 Madison
Graffiti was discovered at 11:10 a.m. Saturday on the garage of a home in the 1300 block of Madison Street.

727 Dobson
Jose Castulo, 18, of 726 Dobson St., was arrested at 727 Dobson St. at 1:18 a.m. yesterday and charged with acting as a pedestrian under the influence. He is due in court on Sept. 20 at 9 a.m.
Shots Heard
McCormick at Bridge
Gunshots were reported near McCormick Boulevard and Bridge Street at 8:16 p.m. Friday. Police checked the area but found nothing.
Theft
700 Chicago
Someone removed cash from the tip jar at a restaurant in the 700 block of Chicago Avenue around 4:30 p.m. Friday.
1600 Chicago
Alcoholic items were taken from the shelves of a grocery store in the 1600 block of Chicago Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
1600 Main
A bicycle was taken from the grounds of Washington School in the 1600 block of Main Street between 6:45 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday.
1500 Florence
A bicycle was taken from the yard of a home in the 1500 block of Florence Avenue between 5 p.m. Friday and 10:45 a.m. Saturday.
2100 Dempster
Tools were stolen from a store in the 2100 block of Dempster Street between 3:45 p.m. and 4 p.m. yesterday.
1700 Sherman
A bicycle secured in an alley in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue was stolen around 7:30 p.m. Friday.
1100 Church
An unsecured bicycle in the yard of a home in the 1100 block of Church Street was taken between 9 a.m. Thursday and 2 p.m. Friday.
999 Howard
Robert J. Merschancz, 27, of 1247 W. Lunt Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 999 Howard St. at 6:21 p.m. Friday and charged with retail theft. He is due in court on Oct. 2 at 10:30 a.m.
Traffic
1826 Foster
Fitzroy C. Lawrence, 48, of 2121 Darrow Ave., was arrested at 1826 Foster St. at 9:24 p.m. yesterday and charged with driving under the influence. He is due in court on Sept. 25 at 10:30 a.m.
An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.
