Evanston’s dog beach will be the topic of a meeting Alderman Judy Fiske, 1st Ward, has called for Saturday, Feb. 23.

Fiske cited unspecified “issues” at the beach in announcing plans for the meeting during this week’s City Council session.

In a city news release inviting residents to attend the 10 a.m. meeting in Room 2200 at the Civic Center, she’s quoted as saying it’s designed to share suggestions on how the city can make the dog beach “an even more positive experience for pets and their owners.”

The dog beach is scheduled to open for the 2013 season in April.

Top: Even stormy weather can’t keep some pets and their owners from the dog beach.

  1. Re-open the beach

Suggestion: Re-open the beach to swimmers and/or boaters, and let the dogs poop in their own yards, not in the water we swim in.

    1. Least of your worries

Dog waste is the least of your worries with Lake Michigan water. Would never swim in that stuff. How about just making it free and not having a ridiculous rule of having to pay to go to a park? There are many free ones in neighboring areas of Evanston that I just go to.
