Evanston police reportedly found drugs and guns when they raided a home in the 1900 block of Brown Avenue Thursday evening.

Alderman Delores Holmes, 5th Ward, told residents at a ward meeting that the raid had taken place while the meeting was underway.

She said police arrested a convicted felon at the scene along with the weapons and narcotics. She said police had to shoot a pit bull dog that attacked them as they were carrying out the raid, but that no people were hurt.

Holmes said the raid was an example of police and neighbors working together to reduce crime problems in the neighborhood.

A police spokesman this afternoon said he did not yet have any details on the incident.
