The COVID-19 pandemic has created many challenges for Evanston businesses. Here’s a look at how it’s impacting Rex’s Place, a dog-day care and boarding facility at 2120 Ashland Ave.

Rex’s Place owner Kathy Lichtenstein says she’s had to lay off several staff members and — with hardly anybody traveling — the boarding side of the business has largely evaporated. But she’s continuing to offer day-care services — although for a much reduced number of pets.

Evanston Now spoke with her this morning about the challenges she’s facing and how she’s altered the operation to help keep her customers safe from the virus.
