A donation box with an undisclosed amount of cash was removed from the front door of St. Athanasius Catholic Church between noon Saturday and 9 a.m. yesterday.
2400 Howard
Miscellaneous items were taken from a grocery store in the 2400 block of Howard Street around noon yesterday.
1800 Brummel
A black 1997 Ford van was stolen from the 1800 block of Brummel Street between 5 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. yesterday.
800 Reba
A package containing clothing items that had been delivered to an apartment common area in the 800 block of Reba Place was stolen around noon on July 17.
1200 Maple
An unlocked gray 2013 Honda van was stolen from the 1200 block of Maple Avenue between 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and 5:50 p.m. yesterday.
900 Davis
Items were stolen from a convenience store in the 900 block of Davis Street around 7:43 p.m. yesterday.
Battery
1454 Elmwood
Steven I. Brown, 75, of 848 Dodge Ave., was arrested at Evanston police headquarters at 1:16 p.m. yesterday and charged with battery. He is due in court on Oct. 9 at 10:30 a.m.
2309 Emerson
Randy R. Prior, 25, of 2309 Emerson St., was arrested at that address at 6:52 p.m. yesterday and charged with battery. He is due in court on Aug. 28 at 9:30 a.m.
Burglary
1500 Dewey
A bicycle and tools were taken from the unlocked garage of a home in the 1500 block of Dewey Avenue between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. yesterday.
Shots Heard
Michigan at Lee
Gunshots were reported near Michigan Avenue and Lee Street at 2:13 a.m. today. Police checked the area but found nothing.
Traffic
616 Hartrey
John E. Ross, 28, of 2320 Greenwood St., was arrested at 616 Hartrey Ave. at 9:12 a.m. yesterday and charged with a traffic violation.
2495 Howard
Miguel Angel Salcedo, 26, of 5931 N. Northwest Highway, Chicago, was arrested at 2495 Howard St. at 3:50 p.m. yesterday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Sept. 11 at 9:30 a.m.
An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.
