With long lines at some polling places in Evanston today, it might seem like everybody in town will end up with an “I voted!” sticker they’ll need to find a spot for by the time the polls close at 7 tonight.

So, Gumby’s here to remind you not to forget to cast your ballot!

Early voters in Evanston totalled 13,045 by the time early voting closed Monday night — that’s a record.

And it’s more than half the 24,566 total votes cast for governor here in the last midterm election in 2014.

In addition to again filling the governorship and other statewide offices, voters today are selecting representatives to Congress and to the state House and Senate.

Local ballot issues include a binding referendum  to increase Evanston’s real estate transfer tax on properties valued at over $1.5 million and an advisory referendum on whether to preserve the Harley Clarke mansion.

We’ll have results on all the races of local interest tonight after the polls close.
