The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazards statement for high wave action and dangerous swimming conditions along Evanston beaches effective from this evening through late Friday night.
Life-threatening waves of four to seven feet and strong rip and structural currents are expected.
The weather service says anyone visiting the beaches should stay out of the water.
It will hardly be beach weather today either with temperatures in the 60s and rain expected much of the day.
We’re also facing an elevated risk of thunderstorms today and tomorrow, and a flash flood watch is in effect through Friday.
