A semi-truck with Dunkin’ Donuts branding collided with a red sedan shortly before 7:30 this morning at the intersection of Ridge Avenue and Emerson Street in Evanston.
The accident left traffic on both streets blocked through much of the morning rush hour.
Evanston Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan says the 60-year-old Evanston man driving the car was taken to Evanston Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
It appeared that the truck had been heading westbound on Emerson and the car most likely had been traveling northbound on Ridge when the accident occurred.
Dugan says the driver of the truck is expected to be cited for disregarding a traffic control device.
An oversize tow truck from North Shore Towing was sent to the scene to remove the semi-truck from the intersection. Police said they hoped to have the streets reopened to traffic before 9 a.m.
Today’s accident occurred a month after another accident at the same intersection in which a Jeep rolled over after colliding with another car.
