Burglars forced their way into three apartments on Ridge Avenue and stole a computer from one of them last Friday. This among the stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.
Jemal Johnson, 47, of 1010 W. Webster, Chicago, was arrested at 817 Davis St. at 10:15 p.m. Saturday and charged with simple assault. A court date was set for 9 a.m. June 1.
Elo Christian Owolide, Jr., 18, of 325 Darrow Ave., was arrested at the Evanston Police Department, 1454 Elmwood Ave., at 7:03 p.m. April 27 and charged with domestic battery. A court date was set for 9:30 a.m. May 18.
Doors to three apartments in the 300 block of Ridge Avenue were forced open and a Macbook stolen from one of the units between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday.
Cash was taken from an unlocked 2007 Mazda parked in the lot of an apartment building in the 800 block of Oakton Street between 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday.
Clothing was stolen from a 2007 Hyundai parked in the 200 block of Custer Avenue between 5 p.m. Thursday and 9:30 a.m. Friday.
Criminal damage to vehicle
The tires of a 2015 Volkswagen parked in a lot in the 2200 block of Oakton Street were slashed between noon and 5:45 p.m. Saturday.
The tires of a 2006 Dodge parked in the 1900 block of Emerson Street were punctured between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. Saturday.
A cell phone was stolen from a resident in the 1100 block of Dewey Avenue after a suspect described as a six-foot-one-inch black male weighing 180 pounds forced open a door to the home, hit and choked the resident between 11:30 a.m. and 11:57 a.m. May 5.
A man with a gun was reported seen in the 2000 block of Foster Street at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Police checked the area and found no one.
The back window of a 2000 Dodge was shot out while someone was driving the vehicle in the 1900 block of Hartrey Avenu at 12:07 a.m. Saturday.
Ridge and Brummel
Shots were reported heard at Ridge Avenue and Brummel Street at 9:35 p.m. Saturday. Police checked the area and found nothing.
A wristlet was stolen from a purse at a restaurant in the 800 block of Chicago Avenue between 3:15 p.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday.
William George Reed, 55, of 1645 W. LeMoyne, Chicago, was arrested at 900 Chicago Ave. at 12:40 p.m. Saturday and charged with retail theft after he allegedly stole sunglasses from a grocery store. A court date was set for 9 a.m. May 27.
A Samsung Galaxy 6 cell phone was stolen from a counter at a pharmacy in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
A package containing clothing was stolen from the common area of an apartment/condo building in the 2100 block of Dewey Avenue between 10:16 a.m. April 27 and 10:16 a.m. Friday.
Ryan O. Bailey, 32, of 909 Sherman Ave., was arrested at 800 Howard St. at 6:51 p.m. Thursday and charged with theft over $500. A court date was not listed.
Enrique Mora Morales, 19, of 1123 Dewey Ave., was arrested at 1819 Crain St. at 11:51 a.m. Friday and charged with a traffic violation. A court date was set for 9 a.m. June 13.
Courtney Geard Pitter, 23, of 2113 Darrow Ave., was arrested at 1300 South Boulevard at 4:36 p.m. Saturday and charged with a traffic violation. A court date was set for 10:30 a.m. June 20.
Matthew Alexander Wechsler, 36, of 1321 Ashland Ave., was arrested at 1715 Maple Ave. at 12:58 p.m. Saturday and charged with a traffic violation. A court date was set for 10:30 a.m. June 1.
