The Preservation Commission is scheduled to discuss Tuesday night the possibility of adding more buildings to the over two dozen downtown that already have landmark status.
Here is a map and aerial photo of downtown Evanston showing existing and proposed landmarks with links to an individual photo of each building.
Update 8/16/06: The commission ran out of time at its Tuesday meeting and didn’t discuss the downtown landmarks. It’s scheduled a special meeting on the subject for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, in Room 2403 of the Civic Center.

Green markers indicate existing landmarks.
Yellow markers indicate landmark candidates.
Red markers indicate potential landmarks.
Blue markers indicate buildings “for further discussion.”
The red line shows the proposed boundary of the downtown area.
That’s a cool map
I’m moving to Evanston in December and am interested in putting together an architecture/preservation portal that will link a clickable map to a wiki on the buildings/sites and to flickr so community members can help build historical and visual knowledge of the built environment.
