The driver of the car involved in an accident Sunday afternoon on Pitner Avenue that resulted in critical injuries to an Evanston male who was thrown against a light pole has now been charged by Evanston police.
Dawan D. Williams, 19, of 1806 Grey Ave., was charged with 1 count of reckless conduct, 1 count of leaving the scene of an accident with injury, and a traffic citation for operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.
Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said that investigators have been unable to interview the male Evanston resident that was hurt in the crash.
He said that Williams was detained on the scene by two bystanders after he attempted to flee the scene of the crash on foot.
