Elise L. Malary.

The Evanston Police Department announced Thursday that the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has recorded the manner of death of drowning victim Elise Malary as “undetermined.”

Malery, 31, was reported missing by a family member on March 11, two days after she last had contact with her family.

Her body was recovered from Lake Michigan near Garden Park on March 17 and it was identified as hers two days later.

Police Cmdr. Ryan Glew says the Medical Examiner did not find traumatic injuries from at or near the time of death. He added that the Evanston Police investigation has not revealed circumstances indicating foul play.

Glew says police will continue to investigative leads in an effort to determine the manner of Malary’s death.

Anyone with information about the death is asked to contact the Evanston Police Detective Bureau at 847-866-5040 or Text-A-Tip to CRIME (274637) and then start your message with EPDTIP.
