Police have arrested a 48-year-old Evanston man who a caller identified as the person seen rummaging through a parked car in the 2100 block of Grant Street about 1:20 this morning.

Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan says the man, Anthony L. Stewart, of 2111 Emerson St., when questioned, admitted to entering the car and taken loose change from it.

Dugan says Stewart also had items believed to have been taken from other cars in the area — including some taken from an unlocked car in the 2400 block of Brown Avenue.

Stewart now has been charged with one count of burglary to vehcile and one count of theft of lost or mislaid property. He’s scheduled to appear in Skokie district court.
