Evanston health officials reported eight new COVID-19 cases today, down from 11 yesterday. The city’s death toll remained unchanged today at 104.

Statewide there were 4,822 new cases today, compared to 4,318 yesterday, for a new total of 1,081,354.

The Illinois Department of Public Health today reported that a total of 537,739 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday, about 39% of the total doses distributed to the state by the federal government. The IDPH says 0.89% of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated.

The state reported 107 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 33 yesterday, for a new total of 18,398.

The state reported 86,121 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 71,533 yesterday.

The IDPH reported tests of 641 Evanston residents today, compared to 358 yesterday. The IDPH found 8 positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 1.3%.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,566 cases, while Evanston’s health department counts 3,476 cases.

Chicago reported 672 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 226,856 and 17 new deaths, for a total of 4,476.

Suburban Cook County reported 905 new cases today for a total of 210,609 and nine more deaths for a total of 4,094.

The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a man in his 40s, a woman and three men in their 50s, a woman and a man in their 60s, five men in their 70s, four women and five men in their 80s and two women and one man in their 90s.

As of last night, 3,284 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 722 patients were in the ICU and 379 of those were on ventilators.
