With temperatures expected to dip into the teens overnight, Interfaith Action of Evanston plans to open its Emergency Overnight Homeless Shelter tonight.

The shelter will be located at First Presbyterian Church, 1427 Chicago Ave. Doors open for guests at 9 p.m., with no entry after 10 p.m.

The expanded emergency shelter program this year will rotate the shelter site among several Evanston churches during the course of the winter season.

And the City of Evanston welcomes the public to stay warm at City of Evanston community centers and Evanston Public Library locations during their regular hours of operation. For more information, please call/text 847-448-4311.

The city’s health department also offers safety tips for dealing with extreme cold weather conditions.
