Evanston police say Emerson Street will be closed to traffic starting at 3 p.m. this afternoon to accommodate a march and rally planned to be held at the Jacob Blake Manor, 1615 Emerson.

The rally, sponsored by Evanston Fights for Black Lives, the Rainbow Push Coalition and the Jacob Blake Foundation, is scheduled to feature speeches by the Rev. Jesse Jackson, U.S. Rep Bobby Rush.

Speakers also are to include relatives of Jacob Blake, the man injured in a shooting by Kenosha police in August, and Breonna Taylor, who was shot to death during a police raid on her Louisville, Kentucky, apartment last March.

Grand jury recordings in the Taylor case were released on Friday.

Evanston police say Emerson is expected to be closed to traffic “into the evening” and that closures of the road, for at least some of that time, may extend from Sherman to Dodge avenues.
