If you happen to be driving down Dempster Street around Dodge Avenue Friday night, prepare to be stopped by Evanston police for a routine safety check.

It’s part of the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign utilized by the Evanston Police Department to check for motorists whose driving may be impaired as a result of consuming alcoholic beverages.

In a release to the media, EPD advises motorists to have a sober designated driver behind the wheel if they’ve been out drinking.

The location of the roadside safety check point will be in the 1900 block of Dempster Street.

EPD’s message is a simple one: “Be safe and don’t drink and drive.”
