The Evanston Police Department plans to restore its Explorer program for high school and college young people after a 30-year hiatus.

Twelve Evanston Township High School students have applied for membership in the post and have been accepted, the department said in a news release, and current plans, under the direction of  Officer Enjoli Daley, are for the group to meet twice a month, to receive instruction and  participate in practical exercises related to law enforcement operations.

The post will be led by Sgt. Scott Sophier who was a Police Explorer with the Skokie Police Department during his high school years.  Officer Daley will act as the Post Chairman. 

Persons interested in learning more about the program are invited to contact Officer Daley or Sgt. Sophier.
