Evanston police, in partnership with Moms Demand Action of Evanston, will be holding a Gun Buyback Event on June 9, at which they will buy your guns for $100 each, with no questions asked.
The event, designed to get guns safely off the streets of Evanston, will be held at the Christ Temple MB Church, located in the 1700 block of Simpson Street, from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
The weapons, which must be unloaded, complete, and operational, should be transported in a case, bag, box, or other supporting item, or in the trunk of a vehicle.
To participate, you must have identification and be a resident of Evanston, Skokie, or the north side of Chicago.
Police contend that this event is a great opportunity for those at risk to surrender their firearms and make a positive step towards turning away from criminal activity. It also gives citizens a way to turn in unwanted firearms so they are not at risk for being stolen or misused.
If you have questions, they invite you to call 3-1-1.
identification?
“Must have identification” – that sounds like a deal breaker. Don’t think $100 is worth the risk of legal problems here.
Buy backs never work
Anyone who is serious about stealing a weapon, and using it in a criminal act, isn’t likely to turn it in.
little arbitrage
Can a private citizen stand outside the event and offer a private transaction at, say, $125+ for a firearm in good condition?
arbitrage
I like the way you think!
buy back
It’s funny how they will offer 100 for guns, all the guns I own cost more than 5 or 6 hundred dollars. I like the idea of offering $125 in front. lol
No gun is illegal?
I like how you need to show “papers” in order to give up a firearm, but not to vote or, apparently, to even be in this country. Shows where we stand…
Dog whistle much?
Really now, we are mixing Trumpian talking points of illegals voting with red blooded Americans’ right to bear arms against a tyrannical government? Whats next, taking back the right to vote from the women?
