Evanston residents dropped off bags and bags of groceries at the Evanston Township High School parking lot on Dodge Avenue today for a food drive organized by two graduates of the school.
Parker English and Grace Sarkor organized a the event, with help from about 30 volunteers, and say they’ll be giving the food away to anybody who needs it from 2 p.m. until whenever the food is all gone.
English said, “It’s open to everybody. The more people we can help, the better”.
She said the two were inspired to help by the work of My Block, My Hood, My City, and “decided to bring that back to Evanston.”
Food drive organizers Grace Sarkor, 22, and Parker English, 24.
This is their first food drive and they have a GoFundMe page called Evanston Food Drive that has raised more than $13,000.
Sarkor says, “We’re just trying to do our part.”
