The Evanston Varsity Baseball team continued its success on its annual spring trip winning two games Saturday in Vero Beach, Fla.

In the first game, the Kits defeated local Master’s Academy 5-2 taking advantage of 12 walks by Masters pitchers and strong pitching by Russell Snapp, Jack Blanchard and James Allen. Snapp got the win and Allen a save.

In the second game, Evanston bats finally warmed up in the 85 degree heat recording 13 hits in a 13-5 victory over Burlington High School from Vermont.

The Kits busted open a close 6-5 game with five runs in the 5th inning.  Martin Fenn was 3-for-4 with two RBI, Mackenzie O’Neil was 2-for-4 with three RBI and Jackson Mihevc also recorded two hits.

Michael Pope started for the Kits and was relieved by Quinn Mannard and Joe Franke.  Franke pitched the final three innings giving up only two hits.

Evanston moves its record to 6-1-1 on the season.  After an off day today, the Kits resume play in Vero Beach with doubleheaders on Monday and Tuesday.​
