The Evanston Township High School District 202 Board plans to meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. to consider the vacancy on its board that it has tried twice unsuccessfully to fill.
The meeting, open to the public, is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Room N112 at the high school.
When member William Geiger resigned on May 27 due to a family move to North Carolina, the board, by law, had 45 days to come up with a replacement.
Two attempts have been made since then to appoint Anne Sills, the candidate who came in fourth during the April election in which only three seats were needed to be filled. Both times, the attempt failed by a 3-to-3 tie vote.
In the meantime, 14 persons applied for the position, and the board interviewed all 14 candidates.
At the request of the three members who voted against Sills, Wednesday’s special meeting was called.
If the board fails to agree on a candidate by July 10, the regional school superintendent for North Cook County is empowered to make the decision.
