After two recent e-learning days due to bad weather, students at Evanston Township High School just received another one due to bad luck.

A water main break at Lake and Dodge on Wednesday morning, right near the school, means “there will be no water or heat” for hours, according to an ETHS website message.

An announcement was made in the building, and students were dismissed at 9:15, although they were allowed to wait in the gym or auditorium for transportation. The CTA, which normally picks up many students after school, has been notified.

All practices, activities, and events for the day have been cancelled.

Safety staff, custodians, engineers, and grounds people were to work their regularly scheduled day, but all other employees have been told to leave the building within one hour after the students are dismissed.

The e-learning replacing in-person classes for the rest of the day will be asynchronous, or, in other words, not live.
