Evanston Township High School’s debate team has been scoring victories this year — including two state runner-ups in the novice division, two all-state debaters at the varsity level, top speakers in the state at multiple levels and in different events and national qualifiers to two different championships in two different events.
Freshmen Aaron Clarke and Lewis Herman were ISTA State Runner-ups in Public Forum Debate; Freshman Manny Dallas was ISTA State Runner-up in the Lincoln-Douglas debate. Lewis Herman was also named top novice speaker in the state in public forum debate.
Junior Win Lalley made the IHSA semi-finals in the Lincoln-Douglas debate, and was named a member of the all-state debate team. Junior Erik Baker made the IHSA quarter-finals in the Lincoln-Douglas debate and was named captain of the all-state debate team. He was also the top speaker in the state in the Lincoln-Douglas debate.
Erik Baker and junior Gabriel Dallas qualified in the Lincoln-Douglas debate to the NCFL Grand National Tournament in Washington, D.C.
Aaron Clarke and Lewis Herman qualified in the public forum debate to the NFL National Tournament in Dallas, Texas, an especially rare accomplishment for freshmen.
