Senior Ashley Smith scored a career-high 12 points and sparked the Evanston girls basketball team to a 58-22 triumph at Waukegan Friday night in a Central Suburban League South division game.
Evanston improved to 13-4 overall and will meet the top-ranked team in the state in Class 2A, Montini, at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Beardsley Gym in a makeup game. The two teams were originally scheduled to play Jan. 7 but the game was postponed due to frigid weather conditions.
Smith also contributed 7 rebounds and 3 steals for the Wildkit cagers in the lopsided win. Dashae Shumate added 11 points and 2 assists and freshman Krystal Forrester collected 8 points and 5 rebounds.
