Parents and guardians of Evanston Township High School students can sign up online starting Oct. 3 for parent conferences to be held Oct. 13 and 14.

Parents are asked to sign up for conferences no later than 2 p.m. on Oct. 11.

Oct.13 is a half-day for students with school dismissal at noon and parent conferences from 6 to 9 p.m.

Oct. 14 is a non-attendance day for students and parent conferences will be held from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Most conferences last five minutes. Students are welcome to attend conferences with their parents or guardian. Parents may also request individual conferences with teachers or a counselor any time during the school year by contacting the appropriate department office.

In addition, ETHS will hold Parent Shadow Day on Thursday, Oct. 27, to give families an opportunity to see the school through the eyes of students. This annual event is open to all ETHS parents, guardians, and other adults who are significant in the lives of ETHS students.

Shadow Day fosters the partnership between ETHS and the parents or guardians who are involved in a child’s educational life. Adults are encouraged to follow their students’ class schedule, including after-school activities, for all or part of the day and find out first-hand what it’s like to be an ETHS student.

This year, the school will host a series of programs during Parent Shadow Day to maximize the experience for busy parents.

School officials say Shadow Days help demystify the high school experience and personalize ETHS for families who work with ETHS faculty to help students reach the highest possible level of academic success.
