Evanston aldermen cancelled the City Council meeting scheduled for tonight so they could attend the reception and a number of city staffers were on hand as well.

The evening reception also featured tours of NU art facilities including the school’s new music building.

The biennial One State: Together in the Arts conference draws a cross-section of artists, arts managers and arts supporters.to talk about the importance of the arts to individuals and society.

Previous editions of the conference have been held in the Quad Cities and in Bloomington-Normal.
