Crews are working today to finish up the installation of the new CTA viaduct at Greenleaf Street in Evanston so the Purple Line can re-open to commuters Monday morning.

The new steel bridge was rolled into place on schedule Saturday evening, replacing the nearly century-old concrete structure at the site.

Today crews are busy laying track and doing electrical and fiber optic cable hookups along the bridge.

That big green machine in the top photo lifts ballast, the stone that goes around the tracks, from ground level to the elevated roadbed.
