Members of the Democratic Party of Evanston, meeting this afternoon at the Levy Center, have voted overwhelmingly to endorse Senator Barack Obama of Illinois for president.

Sen. Obama drew 80.4 percent of the vote, with Senator Hillary Clinton of New York coming in second with just under 10.9 percent.

Former Vice President Al Gore received 3.3 percent of the vote as a write-in candidate. The same percentage of local party members voted to make no endorsement. And 2.2 percent supported former Senator John Edwards of North Carolina.
